Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Administration: Real World Skills for MCITP Certification and Beyond (Exam 70-668)

This SharePoint book was one of my most exciting projects. We were able to cover SharePoint 2010 implementation form start-to-finish. Literally, you can build a lab environment from nothing with this book. You learn to implement everything from the network, to the Windows domain, to the SharePoint server farm. We cover the 70-668 objectives while also helping you build an environment to learn SharePoint as it’s used in the real world.

The topics covered in this book include:

  • SharePoint 2010 Requirements: You will learn the details about both hardware and software requirements. These SharePoint 2010 requirements include the network requirements from the perspective of network infrastructure and services.
  • SharePoint 2010 Templates: The concept of site templates is covered with information on how to create your own templates.
  • SharePoint 2010 Upgrade: Will you be upgrading from previous versions of SharePoint? You will learn how to upgrade or migrate from any earlier version of the product.
  • SharePoint 2010 Services: The service architecture has changed significantly in SharePoint 2010. You will learn about service applications and how they provide for greater flexibility in the new version.
  • SharePoint Designer 2010: The new version of SharePoint Designer is more “Office-like” and easier to use than ever. You will learn about the different roles it can play in your SharePoint 2010 implementation.
  • SharePoint Foundation 2010: Learn about the capabilities of the free version of SharePoint 2010. You will also learn about the features that are not included in SharePoint Foundation 2010.
  • SharePoint Search: Search is an important component of our modern networks. SharePoint Search is much better in the new version of SharePoint Server 2010. You will learn to plan and implement SharePoint Search; however, you will also learn about additional search products that can improve on an already excellent search solution.

This is just a brief sampling of what you will find in the book. I hope you enjoy reading the book as much as we enjoyed writing it.
